BCHP and NLGX Team Up for Hutong Conservation

Yesterday, we met with the team at Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Center (or BCHP) at NLGX Design & Cafe to discuss ways to work together. BCHP is a NGO “dedicated to mobilizing communities to protect [China's] rich and diverse cultural heritage. Matthew Hu, Managing Director at BCHP, shared with us some of their recent projects, including one called Friends of Old Beijing, which is dedicated to help the public understand the value of Beijing’s old neighborhoods, as well as promote awareness and enforcement of government regulations protecting Beijing’s hutongs and courtyard houses.

BCHP is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers, so if you are interested, please visit their website at www.bjchp.org to find out more!

Also, stay tuned to find out ways you can help out with BCHP and NLGX.

NLGX in That’s Beijing, Fashion & Beauty

NLGX makes its first appearance in That’s Beijing this month in Halla Mohieddeen’s Fashion & Beauty column! It’s also nice for our shop, NLGX Design & Cafe to be recognized as being more than just another coffee shop on Nanluoguxiang, or more specifically as Halla describes as“a shop-cum-cafe-cum-community project.” We like the sound of that.
