On Saturday March 7, 2009 NLGX re-opened it’s doors after one week of renovation. With a custom-made retail system, we have made our flagship NLGX store more accomodating for independent designers and artists to display their products and to tell their stories. Our open-air rooftop terrace remains open to enjoy coffee, beer, and smoothies during the upcoming warm-weather months. Thank you again for your support this past year and welcome to visit the new NLGX!

Yesterday, we met with the team at Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Center (or BCHP) at NLGX Design & Cafe to discuss ways to work together. BCHP is a NGO “dedicated to mobilizing communities to protect [China's] rich and diverse cultural heritage. Matthew Hu, Managing Director at BCHP, shared with us some of their recent projects, including one called Friends of Old Beijing, which is dedicated to help the public understand the value of Beijing’s old neighborhoods, as well as promote awareness and enforcement of government regulations protecting Beijing’s hutongs and courtyard houses.
BCHP is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers, so if you are interested, please visit their website at www.bjchp.org to find out more!
Also, stay tuned to find out ways you can help out with BCHP and NLGX.
Beijing is rated as one of the top 10 cities to visit in 2008 by the popular men’s internet portal website, AskMen.com. Featured in their preview of Beijing is our neighborhood of Nanluoguxiang, which they describe as a “bohemian hangout with a local feel.” That is among one of the reasons why we at NLGX love Nanluoguxiang!
